After receiving an overwhelming response from guests onboard Virgin Voyages for my original one-woman show, Around The World In 80 Minutes, they approached me to reimagine it for their largest theatre onboard, The Red Room, to meet heightened demand. The result was Around The World with The Diva, an ambitious, high-energy 50-minute production that introduced a cast of nine talented dancers alongside the lead performer, The Diva.
Collaborating with renowned choreographer and director James Tuuao, I led the conceptual and artistic direction to adapt the intimate one-person show into a dynamic, large-scale performance. The production blended elements of audience interaction and dynamic stage presence, despite the less intimate setting, pushing the boundaries of traditional cruise entertainment.
Using Logic Pro, I orchestrated a bespoke soundscape by working with musicians to record original tracks, which I then integrated seamlessly into QLAB. My technical expertise came to the forefront as I worked alongside onboard teams to ensure that my vision translated into every element of the show.
Utilizing my proficiency in Blender and After Effects, I meticulously 3D-modeled and animated unique video content for seven individual flown screens. These visuals were designed to interact fluidly with the live performance. I coordinated with automation and lighting technicians to ensure that every visual cue was perfectly timed, adding an extra layer of sophistication to the show’s immersive experience.
Given the tight turnaround and the need to install during normal operational hours, I applied strategic time management and problem-solving skills to ensure the production’s success, resulting in an unforgettable and seamless performance for guests.
