Diva Fever – A Hilarious Hustle Through Disco Decadence

At the start of February, I disembarked Resilient Lady after successfully delivering my seventh production for Virgin Voyages: Diva Fever. As the name suggests, this show is a high-energy, hilarious hustle through disco decadence, featuring the onboard drag queen as part of Virgin’s bold and diverse entertainment lineup. From talking disco balls to high-seas heists, this isn’t your typical cruise ship show!

For this production, I took on multiple roles to ensure a seamless, high-impact experience. I wrote the script, built the QLab show file, and meticulously crafted all preparation documentation—allowing for an efficient, streamlined installation within the constraints of regular ship operations.

One of the most exciting challenges was integrating video content into the show. With our music tracks recorded live and awaiting final mastering, I had to remain adaptable—collaborating in real time to create over 50 immersive video elements that transformed the venue into a dynamic, ever-evolving performance space.

Pushing creative boundaries, I worked with projection mapping onto the proscenium to extend the virtual environment into the physical space. From setting the stage ablaze with fiery visuals and making money rain from the ceiling to animating a CGI bandit getting crushed by a giant disco ball, every digital element—designed in Unreal Engine—was crafted to elevate the storytelling and deliver an unforgettable audience experience.

This production was a joy to create, blending cutting-edge multimedia with the signature humor, audience interaction, and energy that define Virgin Voyages’ entertainment.

If you find yourself onboard Resilient Lady, be sure to visit The Manor and step into the indulgent Studio Velvet for a night you’ll never forget!
